Dear One,
When I was younger (much younger :-), I prayed and prayed for the day I would get my menstrual period. So, I remember how it felt to want it to come and not have it happen for what seemed like forever! When it finally did come, I was elated. Now, I knew that I was grown up - a woman. I acted nonchalant about it with my friends. To some, I even acted as if I had had my period for years. But you know what? Getting my period didn't really make me grown up. My actions and attitudes were what really mattered and that only comes with time and experience.
You are probably more grown up than I was at your age. Young people seem so much more mature now.
Don't let not having your menstrual period make you feel less than you are because it really doesn't have anything to do with the kind of person you are. And it will come in good time, I promise. :-)
Can the doctor do anything to speed it up? Well, maybe. It is normal for a young lady to begin her menstrual period anytime from the age of 9 years to 16 years old. If you are older than 16 years, I would suggest that you make an appointment with your doctor. There may be something the doctor can do and it is a good idea to have an examination in this situation.
Just remember, you are perfect and beautiful just as you are! Don't forget that, ok?
Sincerely,
Marie Krey
